Student Symposium

The Student Symposium shows off our students’ diverse achievements inside and outside the classroom.

Regular classes are canceled on the day of Symposium so that faculty, staff, and students can participate in the events. Members of the North Shore and Lake County communities are welcomed to campus to join us in this celebration of student scholarship and intellectual engagement.

Student presentations are done in coordination with faculty members who nominate students to participate and help them through the process. Do you have some work you would like to present? Talk to your professors to get the process started! They will work with you to refine your presentation and prepare you to engage your audience at Symposium.

Students are encouraged to present in any field that they are interested in. Art exhibits, senior thesis projects, musical compositions, research posters, philosophical inquiries, and more are all welcome!

Students who are interested in presenting at the Symposium are strongly encouraged to contact a faculty member and secure a nomination. Students may also apply directly to participate in the symposium.

Questions or inquiries can be directed to the Symposium Committee Co-Chairs,  Rudi Batzell or  Scott Schappe.
